Abhayam is a non-governmental registered charitable organization dedicated to serving the mentally challenged. With Registration No. 472/2002 under the Charitable Societies Registration Act, we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with mental challenges and their families.
At Abhayam, we firmly believe in the inherent worth and potential of every individual, regardless of their mental abilities. Our organization operates with compassion, respect, and a person-centered approach, recognizing the unique needs, strengths, and aspirations of each person we serve.
We have assembled a team of dedicated professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and trained support staff. This multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the holistic well-being of our clients.

Our Institution
Abhayam Special School
Abhayam has been running a special school for the mentally retarded since 1999 providing facility for class room activities, vocational training, therapeutic services and medical checkup-all without fee.
Abhayam Therapy Center
Abhayam Therapy Centre with physiotherapy unit and speech therapy unit
Abhayam Vocational Training Center
This is to help the disabled to earn a living.Pupils are given training in making clothbags, Paper carry bags and office files in addition to tailoring and embroidery. Also given training to make soap powder and cleaning lotion.
Abhayam Palliative Center
Abhayam volunteers, nurses and doctors do appreciable service in pain relief and palliative care. Patients with chronic pain and incurable diseases are attended to under the care centre providing Home care and Clinic care. Besides, the needy poor patients are given essential medicine, food kit, educational support and vocational training’
Objectives
- To help patients who suffer from incurable diseases and chronic pain providing home care, clinic care and financial support.
To mobilize resources to help such patients who suffer much due to financial problems. - To create social awareness in the younger generation about the need for palliative care service.
- To establish and run a palliative care center with IP facility.
Abhayam Residential Care Home
Life-long rehabilitation is quite necessary for the mentally challenged when their parents are no more, for severely multi-disabled persons to whom adequate care cannot be given at home even if their parents are financially sound. The construction of one care home has already been completed. The facility for admitting such fifty multidisabled cases is in proposal. Managment Committee seeks sponsorship or financial assistance from generous persons and socially committed firms to run the care homes for the life- long care and protection of severely multidisabled persons.
Multi-Disabled Servers Cases
Persons with profoundly multi-disabled are the most suffering section in the society. Many such cases are being looked after by Abhayam. They are helped providing regular medical checkup, required medicines, cleaning materials and food kit.
Abhayam Mental Health Complex
Watch them, innocent with sobbing heart, insecure and helpless, quite uncertain of their future, often cursed by family and society, a lifelong agony for the family and distress to the society.
